3-Ingredient British Flapjacks

During my time in the UK, I came across plenty of delectable sweet treats with Flapjacks being high up on the list of favorites. If there’s one thing I love about the Brits it’s that they do their desserts really really well. I still can’t lose the taste of Flapjacks and decided to try making them on my own.

This recipe only needs three ingredients for the classic version. However, you can add more ingredients to create a deeper flavor profile.

What 3 Ingredients Do You Need for British Flapjacks?

  • Oats: I used regular oats, but you can use rolled or steel-cut as well.
  • Butter: This is essential to get that rich deep flavor.
  • Raw Honey: I used raw honey because that’s what I had at hand. You can use regular honey, maple syrup or molasses too. You can also use granulated or brown sugar.

What Other Ingredients Can I Add?

To improve your flavor profile, you can also add:

  • Salt: A pinch of salt goes a long way.
  • Cinnamon: Just a little cinnamon gives your flapjacks a fun autumnal flavor twist.
  • Nutmeg: Like cinnamon, a little bit of nutmeg will elevate your flavor profile.

I topped my flapjacks off with a drizzle of Nutella. But that’s entirely optional. You can also choose to add a layer of chocolate on top to get a beautiful double-layered flapjack delight.
