2-Ingredient Nutella Puffs

You ever get that feeling when you want to bake but also don’t want to put in any effort whatsoever into baking? Well, this 2-ingredient Nutella Puffs recipe is perfect for that mood. That is exactly how I was feeling last night. I wanted something warm right out of the oven and also super chocolatey. I mean, look at how gorgeous they turned out.

Now, I could just take a spoon and the jar of Nutella and dig right in. But, I was badly craving the warmth or baked goods. So I checked the freezer and sure enough, I had some puff pastry dough. I took that to the kitchen and popped out the jar of Nutella and got to work.

Just Two Ingredient for Nutella Puffs?

Yes. And if you haven’t guessed it thus far, it’s only:

  • Nutella
  • Puff pastry (store bought)

Now I’m all for baking from scratch. But, sometimes you don’t have the energy or ingredients bake from scratch. Besides, this recipe is very beginner-friendly and budget-friendly.

If you’re looking to step into the baking world, this is a great starting point. It is essentially foolproof. It also comes together in just 15-20 minutes. And this recipe gives you the most delicious, pillowy, and fresh Nutella Puffs that taste like they came straight out of a bakery. The upside is that you can fill it with far more Nutella than the store-bought ones.

Can I use something else instead of Nutella?

Absolutely. Maybe you’re not a fan of Nutella or are allergic to nuts. I get it. There are plenty of other flavor variations you can use:

  • Any chocolate spread
  • Any type of fruit jam
  • Cream cheese

I’ve always hated the tiny dollop of chocolate in bakery items. This is your chance to take things into your own hands and change that. So let’s get right to baking.

Ingredients

  • Nutella

  • Store-bought puff pastry

  • 1 beaten egg (optional)

Directions

  • Preheat your oven to 200 °C.
  • Spread out your puff pastry. If you have just removed it from the freezer, allow to thaw until the pastry is pliable.
  • Cut your puff pastry into large squares. If your pastry comes in rectangular sheets (like in Turkey), cut each sheet into two.
  • Place a teaspoon of Nutella in the center and fold to seal well. You can fold it in any shape or design you like. I find the triangle to be the easiest.
  • Use a fork to seal the sides well.
  • If you want a glossy golden finish, crack an egg in a bowl and beat well. Brush some egg-wash on the surface of each Nutella Puff.
  • Place on your baking sheet or tray and pop in the oven. Bake for 15-20 minutes of until your pastry has puffed up and formed a beautiful crackly crust.
