Breakfast Oatmeal Jars

I am not a meal prep girlie. That is still something I’m working to fix because isn’t meal prep such a time saver? I did, however, finally get around to prepping breakfast oatmeal jars.

Why did I start making Breakfast Oatmeal Jars?

Now, there are a few reasons why I did get around to making breakfast oatmeal jars.

  • They don’t involve any cooking
  • They take less than a minute to prepare
  • They are super versatile

Why do I use jars?

There are several advantages to using jars instead of bowls.

  • Jars are super portable
  • You can seal and reseal them
  • You don’t need to use anything else to cover them

When I was just using bowls, I had to find another plate to place on top or use cling film/foil to cover them. I hate placing uncovered food in the fridge.

To be fair, I never really had a lot of jars or Tupperware lying around. But, recently, I moved to a new place. And this new place came with so many empty jars just lying around in the kitchen.

When I say it takes NO TIME to prepare these jars, I mean it. You can add all of your ingredients directly to the jar, seal, and pop them in the fridge overnight.

And just like that, you have your Breakfast Oatmeal Jars ready for the morning. In the morning, you can take your jars out of the fridge, add your toppings and voila! Breakfast is ready!

I’ll be sharing the basic base recipe, and a few flavor variations that you can work with.

Different Breakfast Oatmeal Jar Flavors

Like I said, this base recipe is super easy to work with and very versatile. You can basically, make any and all flavors with this one single base.

These are some of my favorites that I have tried and tested:

  • Dark cocoa and fresh orange
  • Flaxseed and fresh berries
  • Peanut butter and jelly
  • Jam and shredded coconut
  • Bananas and almonds
  • Chocolate chips

Really, the list goes on. As far as sweetening it goes, I personally don’t find the need to sweeten my oatmeal. I think it already has a very subtle naturally sweet flavor.

But if you like to add sugar, honey, maple syrup, or any other sweeter to your oatmeal jars, go for it.

Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp of oats

  • 3/4 cup of milk of your choice

  • sweetener of your choice (optional)

Directions

  • Take a clean empty jar, and add your oats and milk to it. I like using short and wide jars to this.
  • If you’re using a sweetener, add that in as well. Mix well.
  • Seal your jar with the lid, and pop it in the fridge overnight.
