The summer has been brutal this past few months. I have been keeping the ice trays in my freezer full at all times. From iced coffee to dunking a whole tray of ice cubes in a jug of water to sip on while working, keeping the heat at bay has been a full time job. Aside from all the ice cubes, I have also been drinking far more liquids in the form of juices. While I have quite a few favorites, I recently made some deliciously refreshing watermelon limeade and I cannot get enough of it.
When I tell you I made a whole jug that is still in the fridge, I wish I was lying. I chose to use sparkling water instead of regular water because I love a fizz. However, you are free to use plain water or even crushed ice cubes if you want more of slushy experience.
I decided to spice things up a bit and rimmed my glasses with salt and cayenne. It added a delectable kick and definitely worked beautifully with the zesty lime and sweet watermelon flavors. You can also add some cayenne to the drink if you want even more of a spicy kick.

I did not bother removing the seeds before blending the watermelon pieces. That was mostly because it would have been quite time consuming. But, I also found that the crushed seeds added a very slight nutty flavor to the drink that I quite preferred. If you are not a fan, you can always de-seed or opt for seedless watermelons.
